Tennessee Titans

Key Additions: OG Rodger Saffold, WR Adam Humphries, EDGE Cameron Wake, QB Ryan Tannehill (trade)

Key Departures: EDGE Derrick Morgan, DT Bennie Logan, OG Josh Kline, S Johnathan Cyprien

Grade: B

Aside from Derrick Morgan, who remains a free agent, the Tennessee Titans didn’t lose anybody important in free agency this offseason. It seems a bit strange for the Titans to have inked two older players in Rodger Saffold and Cameron Wake, but both can be stars for the Titans offensive line and front seven, respectively, in 2019.

Signing Adam Humphries to a four-year, $36 million deal may seem like a desperation play, but he quietly showed up as a possession receiver in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers explosive offense, hauling in 76 passes last season. Given reported interest from the Patriots and others, Humphries’s market was competitive, so Jon Robinson had to spend in order to secure his top target at the position.

Corey Davis needed some help across from him, and hopefully for the Titans, Humphries can be that guy. Marcus Mariota has needed better weapons around him for quite some time, and while it’s debatable if Humphries can be that sort of upgrade, he’s at least someone competent.

Speaking of Mariota, the quarterback’s injuries forced the Titans to acquire a better backup in Ryan Tannehill, a former first-round pick in his own right who surely has designs on starting again. Tannehill isn’t nearly as good as Mariota, but he’s a much better backup than Blaine Gabbert, who replaced Ryan Fitzpatrick as the Buccaneers backup quarterback.
