2. Bo Bichette, SS

Bichette is the team’s No. 2 prospect, and we’re only adding him here because it’s somewhat shocking he’s not up with the Blue Jays already.

Take a look at what he’s been doing down in the Grapefruit League:

The only reason he’s not with the team right now is the health of the Blue Jays infield, Devon Travis notwithstanding. We already mentioned Gurriel Jr. and Urena as roadblocks for Cavan Biggio, but Freddy Galvis and Eric Sogard also have had some starts at shortstop, meaning Bichette has to overcome four teammates to get onto the major league roster.

Bichette is the shortstop of the future for the Blue Jays, there’s no doubt about it. If you’re an impatient fan, look to the trade deadline for some movement – the glut of infielders combined with Bichette waiting in the wings means that Shapiro and Atkins could sell confidently, and bring the Orlando, FL native north of the border.
