Brian Burns, DE, Florida State

I’m not sure that Burns’ raw athleticism will allow him to fall down the board enough for Veach to consider trading up for him, but if he does, look out. At 6-foot-5 and near 250 pounds, size should not be an issue for Burns as a potential LEO (weak-side DE) fit in Steve Spagnuolo’s defense. More than just raw measurement numbers, Burns was highly productive on the field at FSU, as evidenced in this post at CBS Sports.

"Burns played in eight games during his freshman season at Florida State, where he logged 8.5 sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss. As a sophomore, he had 4.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss and had his best season in 2018 when he finished with 10 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss. He also had seven career forced fumbles, including three last season."

Burns’ combination of speed and strength could prove lethal with the stunts that he may find himself executing if drafted by KC. Spagnuolo and Daly could even have Burns pop and drop into zone coverages if they’d like given his athleticism, and he’d probably do a good job with such tasks.

A move up to grab Burns would most definitely require going above pick 20 and possibly even pick 15.
