5 WWE Superstars who should have main-evented WrestleMania
By Matt Black
4. Eddie Guerrero
Unfortunately, in the history of WrestleMania main events, we can no longer talk about the one that occurred at WrestleMania XX, for obvious reasons that we won’t get into here. However, there was another match on that show that could have easily been in the main-event slot instead, featuring none other than “Latino Heat” himself, Eddie Guerrero.
Guerrero competed several times at WrestleMania but he was never in a better position to have a shot at the main event than he did that year at Madison Square Garden. Had he been able to close the show instead of what did main event, that year’s WrestleMania wouldn’t have to be ignored.
Unfortunately, Guerrero passed away in 2005, a death that sent shock waves through the wrestling business. His legend lives on, with fans still chanting his name to this day when his signature maneuvers, such as the Three Amigos or Frog Splash, are hit on an opponent.
One would think if not for his untimely passing Guerrero would have been able to main event the Showcase of the Immortals before he retired. It’s a shame he never got to main event a WrestleMania, but at least has found his rightful home in the WWE Hall of Fame.
