The Kansas City Chiefs had the  most explosive offense in football last season, led by first-year starter Patrick Mahomes. All Mahomes did was throw for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in his first season under center, leading the Chiefs to the best record in the AFC, and taking home the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award.

Unfortunately, Mahomes and this offense could not lead the Chiefs to the Promised Land, as the defense was pretty bad all season long. This offseason, they have seen some key pieces from that defense leave via trades, and free agency, so they are a bit of an unknown heading into next season.

While the team did add talent to the secondary, they cannot stop there, and that is where they should use their first round pick this April. Adding a quality cornerback like Deandre Baker with the No. 29 overall pick would be a solid get for this team late in the first round, as he has the talent to start right away on this team.

Mahomes is going to keep this team in games, but it is really going to come down to whether or not the Chiefs can actually get stops this season. The AFC West  is going to be stacked in 2019, as the Los Angeles Chargers are loaded, and the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos got better this offseason, so if the Chiefs want to win a fourth straight division title, they have to revamp this defense.
