2019 NFL mock draft: Kyler Murray heads to Cardinals at No. 1
By Brad Weiss
The New England Patriots won their sixth Super Bowl title with Tom Brady at quarterback last season, as they got a dominant performance from their defense in a 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. New England went into the 2018 season as a favorite to win it all, and behind Brady and Bill Belichick, they put together another historic year.
This offseason has not been as kind to the Patriots, as they have lost a lot of talent via free agency, and saw Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski announce his retirement. That is going to be a big blow to this offense, but as we see every offseason, the Patriots will add a bunch of random players, and they will go on to succeed under Belichick.
With the last pick in the first round, the Patriots could bring on a guy who may need a redshirt year this upcoming season. Jeffery Simmons from Mississippi State blew out his knee a month ago, but there is no doubt he is an elite talent, and the Patriots are the only team that could afford to bring in a guy who cannot play in 2019 in the first round.
The Patriots are a team that is going to be right back in the mix in 2019, and no matter who they lose, they always seem to be the last team standing in the AFC East. Brady is not going anywhere, which makes them the favorite in their division again, but how long can they really continue to dominate like this.
