2019 NFL mock draft: Kyler Murray heads to Cardinals at No. 1
By Brad Weiss
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made some nice moves to improve their roster this offseason, but took a big blow at linebacker when Kwon Alexander decided to leave via free agency. While Devin White would be a solid addition to this team, and they could even trade back to get him if they liked, I do not see this team passing on Quinnen Williams at No. 5 if he is there.
Sure, they added Vita Vea back in 2017, but Williams is a guy who may be the best overall player in this draft class. New head coach Bruce Arians is going to want to add talent to this roster, and not just a positional fit, and Williams is the kind of cornerstone you can build your entire defense around.
Of course, this Tampa Bay season is going to be decided on how Jameis Winston plays in his first season under Arians, but he did show signs of improvement towards the end of last season. Tampa Bay has talent up front on defense, but Williams is just too good to pass up in this spot, though you can believe they will be dangling this pick around if teams like Washington, Miami, or Denver want to move up and get a quarterback.
Tampa Bay won only five games last season, finishing last in an NFC South that was one of the best in football once again. They have not been to the playoffs since the 2007 NFL season, but with Arians at the helm, you have to think he is going to be able to turn this thing around in a hurry.
