Round 2: David Edwards

In many ways, what the Panthers will do on Day 2 is solidly tied with the direction they go in Round 1. If you see an edge rusher go to Carolina with their first pick, it’s very likely they’ll come back for an offensive tackle with their second choice.

There’s some debate on whether or not Edwards should play on the left or right side at the next level, but the Panthers can use another quality option on either side. Taylor Moton, Williams and Edwards would give Rivera a solid trio of tackles to rely on in 2019.

In an ideal world, the Panthers could give Edwards a full season of coaching in the NFL before counting on him to play meaningful snaps. He’s a massive offensive lineman, but his tape at Wisconsin doesn’t show a guy who really dominates the opposition. Edwards will need a lot of work on his technique and hand placement at the professional level.

The upside for Edwards is significant though. He’s got great feet for a tackle which is the reason he’ll likely hear his name called on Day 2. The Panthers could go for a couple of different tackles here, but Edwards’ upside will be really tempting.
