10 superstars who still need to be in the WWE Hall of Fame

Bam Bam Bigelow
If ever there were going to be a year for Bam Bam Bigelow to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, 2019 should have been it. There were rumors circulating in 2018 that he was going to be a part of that class, but WWE wanted to wait until WrestleMania was in New Jersey, where it takes place this year, to allow the Asbury Park native to get a hometown induction. However, this year’s inductees have all been announced and Bigelow has gotten the snub once again. And it’s a shame, because he deserves to be in.
Let’s start with the Lawrence Taylor thing. WWE brought in an NFL player to be the main event of WrestleMania XI, so yes, Bigelow vs. Taylor closed out a WrestleMania that featured Shawn Michaels vs. Kevin Nash for the WWE Championship, but that’s not the point. Vince McMahon needed a veteran for that match. He needed a pro that could make Taylor look good and a veteran who was also willing to put his pride aside and take the loss to a non-wrestler. Enter Bigelow. He did an amazing job that night and made Taylor look like a monster. It’s not that Taylor wasn’t a great athlete but Bigelow went above and beyond that night, taking convincing bumps and making the match better than it had any right to be.
But, more than that, Bigelow was an innovator. While it’s more commonplace now, back then big guys simply didn’t do the things he was doing, like dropkicks and coming off the top rope with flying headbutts. It’s a shame that he never got a title run in WWE, but he was an ECW World Heavyweight Champion, an ECW Television Champion, won the Hardcore and tag titles in WCW and also teamed with Vader to win the IWGP tag titles in New Japan. He was one of the most recognizable figures in wrestling for a number of years and is truly deserving of induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.
