The Steiner Brothers

While Scott Steiner’s disdain for all things WWE may hold this up for a long time, if not forever, it can’t be ignored that The Steiner Brothers are one of the best tag teams in the history of professional wrestling.

Both amateur standouts at the University of Michigan, Rick and Scott made names for themselves in the pro wrestling industry in NWA/WCW, winning their first NWA World Tag Team Championship against WWE Hall of Famers The Fabulous Freebirds. They would later win the NWA United States Tag Team Championship (later renamed the WCW United States Tag Team Championship) against the Rock N’ Roll Express (also WWE Hall of Famers) and within the next year would also win the IWGP tag titles. Essentially, at the time, if there was a major tag title to be won, The Steiners were going to win it at some point.

That led to their debut in WWE in late 1992, and by the summer of 1993, Rick and Scott were champions once again, defeating Money, Inc. for their first of two eventual reigns with the WWE tag titles.

After a short stint in ECW, The Steiners headed back to WCW in 1996 and had major programs with 2019 WWE Hall of Fame inductees Harlem Heat and also The Outsiders when the New World Order storyline began. Scott began to change up his look (understatement of the decade) and the brothers would eventually split, as Scott turned on Rick to begin the former’s big singles push. The duo would reunite from time to time over the years but never make as big of a splash as they did in their early days. But one can’t overlook what they did for any tag team division they were in for many years. They put on great matches with great teams and won almost every major tag title there was to be won.
