WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match (Fatal Four-Way)
Sasha Banks & Bayley (c) vs. The IIconics vs. Nia Jax & Tamina vs. Natalya & Beth Phoenix
Our second fatal four-way match for tag titles, the Women’s Tag Team Championship match wasn’t the greatest in the world but it got the job done and created a nice WrestleMania moment in the process.
Before the match got started, Bret Hart joined Beth Phoenix and Natalya on the ramp. Word is that Hart had to be hospitalized for a short time following that idiotic fan attack so it was good to see him out there.
As for the match itself, it was good at times but sloppy in others. The double Sharpshooter from Nattie was awesome and it has been fun seeing Phoenix back in the ring. Unfortunately, Nia Jax and Tamina were low points of the match. What at first seemed like a fun duo to watch has turned out to be unimpressive at best, and they have no momentum at all. Bayley and Sasha Banks looked good in this match, but this night surprisingly belonged to The IIconics. The finish was done so very well that you had to be paying attention to know how things ended correctly.
Phoenix had Bayley up on the ropes and hit an awesome Glam Slam and went for a pin. However, Peyton Royce made sure that didn’t happen and knocked Phoenix, who wasn’t even legal at that time, from the ring. Billie Kay had actually tagged herself into the match just as Phoenix was slamming Bayley. Kay slid in, stole the pin and The IIconics had their WrestleMania moment, much to the delight of the MetLife Stadium crowd. The nice finish made up for the lackluster match.
What’s next: The celebratory promo from The IIconics is going to be excruciatingly loud but it should be entertaining. Bayley and Banks will likely get a rematch at some point, even if automatic rematch clauses are not supposed to be a thing right now.
