3. They have a competent coach now

When the Bucks hired Mike Budenholzer last summer, I certainly expected the team to improve. Considering his success with the Hawks, it made sense to assume that Budenholzer would modernize the Bucks’ offense, improve the defense, and create more opportunities for Giannis to shine. Well, those who assumed that would happen were right, but I’m not sure anyone expected those overhauls to make this big of a difference. Jason Kidd had been the Bucks coach for the previous three and a half seasons before being fired and replaced by Joe Prunty as interim coach for the rest of the year, and if you watched the Bucks play much last year, it will be no surprise to you that they have not been highly sought by other teams since then.

Neither coach was creative in their schemes, preventing them from reaching their full potential. This year, though, Budenholzer has brought forth the Bucks potential in ways previously unimagined by most observers and this postseason Milwaukee will no longer be hamstrung by unimaginative, replacement level coaching as in the past.
