College basketball rankings: Way-too-early Top 25 for 2019-20
North Carolina led one of the best scoring attacks in college basketball last season, averaging about 86 points per game, but unfortunately, the Tar Heels will be losing quite a bit.
Cameron Johnson, Luke Maye and Kenny Williams are all graduating while Coby White and Nassir Little have declared for the NBA draft. For most teams, that would be enough to decimate a roster with no turnaround in sight, but the Tar Heels should be reloading and developing some young guys.
Little was the top recruit in the Tar Heels’ 2018 class and one of the highest-rated players to ever pledge to North Carolina, but Roy Williams will replace him with guys like Garrison Brooks, Sterling Manley and incoming freshman center Armando Bacot — a highly-touted five-star from IMG Academy.
Will the Tar Heels get back to dominating Duke for a second straight season and having the talent to make a Final Four? Possibly, but this looks like another Sweet 16 or Elite Eight roster with the potential to surprise some folks.
For now, the Tar Heels will be a fringe top-10 team.
