8. Charles Barkley comes out as an Auburn superfan

Everyone who has even a passing knowledge of basketball knows that CBS analyst Charles Barkley went to Auburn in his college days, so their presence in the NCAA Tournament the past two years have been interesting. The Tigers didn’t do so well last year, losing in the Round of 32, but they ended up getting all the way to the Final Four this year.

While most pundits tend to remain neutral on nationally televised games, Barkley simply doesn’t roll like that. During Auburn’s blowout win over Kansas in the second round, the CBS cameras caught a shot of Barkley’s ridiculous viewing setup at the halftime update desk that became legendary.

CBS had a lot of fun with Barkley’s fandom in the next round, setting up a similar rooting station for his longtime broadcast partner Kenny “The Jet” Smith when Auburn played North Carolina, Smith’s alma mater. The Tigers blew out the Tar Heels in that one, making Sir Charles a very happy man and setting up a trip to the Elite Eight against Kentucky.

The Barkley experience had another high point when the Tigers rallied late to stun the Wildcats and reach their first Final Four in program history. Sir Charles didn’t end up taking the stuffed tiger with him to Minneapolis, which proved to be a bad omen as Auburn blew a late lead against Virginia in the Final Four.

In terms of pure hilariousness, nothing will top the Charles Barkley rooting section inside the CBS studios.
