5. Arizona Cardinals

The reason the Washington Redskins did not make this list is because they will trade for Rosen soon, leaving the Cardinals in need of a quarterback. Other teams that almost made the top five are the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, and Seattle Seahawks. If the Broncos didn’t just trade for Flacco, they would definitely have made the list. I think they will be drafting a quarterback next year, after Flacco does not work out.

The Patriots may well do Jimmy Garoppolo 2.0 and try again to draft their quarterback of the future, but Belichick is hard to figure out. And if the Seahawks cannot work out a deal with Russell Wilson soon, they could also be in the market for a passer.

But I went with the Cardinals because I actually believe this pre-draft chatter is real: Kliff Kingsbury loves Kyler Murray. He said what he said long before he was even potentially an NFL coach, and again, new coaches like to pick their quarterback to set their new direction. The Cardinals and Kingsbury are doing a lot of denying right about now, but I think they will trade Rosen for a couple of second-round picks or thereabouts, and will draft Murray to be their quarterback of the next decade plus.
