3. Jerry Tillery

The Titans have a big time need at nose tackle and Tillery is the best pure nose in this draft class. Tennessee might gamble on waiting until Round 2 to call his name, but no one should blame them if they reach a little to take him on Day One.

Critics of Tillery’s game get a little too caught up in what he isn’t. If you’re looking for an interior defensive lineman who will use his quickness to knife into the backfield and make plays then he’s not the prospect for you. If, on the other hand, you want a massive defensive tackle who can take up space and stop runs up the middle then Tillery is your dream come true.

The Titans don’t need their nose tackle to rack up double-digit sacks. They need a fire hydrant who can plug up the middle and force opponents to double team him frequently. Tillery fits that need perfectly.

It’s legitimate to question whether or not taking a nose tackle at No. 19 represents good value, but there can’t be any debate about whether or not Tillery would play for the Titans. He’d give Vrabel an immediate starter at a position of real need.
