2019 NFL mock draft: Dwayne Haskins heads to Giants
By Brad Weiss
The New York Giants pulled off arguably the biggest move of the offseason last month, trading away star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. What made the move so shocking was the fact that management had repeatedly stated they did not sign OBJ to trade him, which they did to the Cleveland Browns.
For Beckham, the Giants got back a 2019 first and third round pick, as well as safety Jabrill Peppers. The first round pick will come at No. 17, as the Browns were actually pretty good last season, and missed out on the playoffs by a couple of games in the AFC North.
The big question with this Giants franchise is what the team the team plans to do with Eli Manning, as there have been so many reports on this subject since the 2018 season ended. Some have said they plan to extend Manning, but one thing is for sure, they need to make sure they bring in his successor this April.
The No. 2 quarterback in this draft class is Dwayne Haskins from Ohio State, who has the prototypical build to be a star quarterback at the NFL level. He was a beast in his first season as the Buckeyes’ starter, throwing for 50 touchdown passes, while lead the team to the Rose Bowl victory over Washington.
