50. . Edge. Mississippi State. Montez Sweat. 8. player

The Detroit Lions have been swinging for the fences this offseason, and have already landed one of the bigger names on the defensive side of the ball. Detroit knew they needed help on the edge in 2019, especially with Ziggy Ansah becoming a free agent, and they got the best player available in free agency at the position.

That man is Trey Flowers, who is fresh off helping the New England Patriots win yet another Super Bowl. He instantly makes this pass rush better, as he is a better player than Ansah, but the Lions should not consider themselves finished at the position heading into 2019.

With the No. 8 overall pick, a player I like the Lions to target is Montez Sweat, an absolute freak of nature out of Mississippi State. Sweat did have a heart issue come up during the pre-draft stuff, but he was allowed to compete in the combine, and it should be a non-issue moving forward.

On Detroit, Sweat would team with Flowers to give the Lions a devastating tandem on  the edge, something this team has been lacking for years. Detroit is a team that made some good additions this offseason, and with a solid draft, they could be a sleeper team to watch in a very tough NFC North next season.
