3. The Rockets getting the No.4 seed

This is about a little bit more than just the Rockets getting the No. 4 seed. It is about not having to play both the Rockets and Warriors on their path to the NBA Championship. The Nuggets went 2-6 against these two teams and should be striving to avoid them. They were able to be blessed with that dream scenario.

Meanwhile, against the three teams on their side of the Western Conference bracket, they are 9-3. It now shapes up that they will start the playoffs against the Spurs, a team that is built similarly to theirs, but the Nuggets are the more talented team so they should be able to prevail in this series. They are then a combined 7-1 against the Trailblazers and the Thunder, again resulting in a likely series victory. Getting through the Rockets or Warriors in the Western Conference Finals will be a little trickier, but as the team will have more playoff experience at that point, they should be in better shape to do so.

Should they find a way to beat the Warriors or Rockets, they will be in a tremendous spot. The Nuggets are 2-2 against the East’s top two seeds and will likely be able to pull out a victory in the NBA Championship. The reason this scenario was brought into fruition, was by a clutch win the Nuggets had last night, propelling them to the second seed, and forcing Houston down to the fourth seed.
