Everything else

Joseph Conners had a match against Jack Starz that was supposed to sell us on Conners, and it was definitely a match. It’s kind of hard to see what separates Conners from other talent currently on the rise, really. The finish was pretty impressive though, with Conners catching Starz off a cross-body, rolling through and lifting him up to do his finisher for the win. Also, he yelled at the top turnbuckle for making him slip earlier in the match. Maybe there’s something to this Conners guy after all.

Another vignette aired hyping up the return of Dave Mastiff. He’s still super strong, but now, he’s emotionally complex, too. Mastiff talks about how his dad was one of those dads who never tells his son that he loves them. One of those dads who instead tells instead that showing emotion is a weakness. Well look at baby Davey now Mr. Mastiff. He’s on his way to dominate the NXT UK landscape with his emotionally-cold strongman ways. When? Soon.

Lastly, the Grizzled Young Veterans issue a challenge to any tag team that wants to go up against them in a non-title match. Zack Gibson can’t emphasize this non-title element enough, as a week has passed and he is still yelling. It’s more subdued, but it’s a yell nonetheless. James Drake stands in the background failing to look tough. Actually, he looks kind of high, like he keeps almost smiling but then remembers he’s supposed to be tough and then just keeps making weird expressions because he’s lost control of the muscles in his face.

Anyway, Grizzled Young Veterans versus whoever wants to wrestle them in a non-title match, instead of just asking for and receiving a title match from Johnny Saint like it seems everyone else does. Regardless, one streaking team seems interested.

Any thoughts on this week’s episode of NXT UK? Who should be the next to challenge WALTER or Toni Storm? Is Piper Niven already more dominant than Rhea Ripley? Should Dave Mastiff beat up his dad at the next NXT UK Takeover? Let us know in the comments below.
