1. The little things

Any team in the NHL playoffs can win the Stanley Cup. Well, maybe not the Columbus Blue Jackets, but any other team aside from them has a legitimate chance. The NHL playoffs are the hardest games to play in and the Stanley Cup Trophy is by far the most difficult to win. Given the playoff format, we can throw the rankings out the window as well.

For a team to win the Stanley Cup, they need some combination of the above points. Depth, goaltending, scoring, playoff experience and a hardcore, superstitious fan base that will sit in uncomfortable positions, grow huge playoff beards and only drink a certain brand of beer when the team is playing well, etc. (I would say that’s just me but I know it isn’t). Playoff success doesn’t come easy and every little thing counts.

The Bruins seem to have all those little things. The skill, the experience, the goaltending and the odd lucky bounce when a lucky bounce is needed (luck favors the prepared). The Bruins have proven they can hang with anyone in the league, now it’s time to top that. Let’s dive back into last year’s post for one last quote:

The NHL playoffs are a wide open circus of hot goalies, clutch players and a little luck. Any team can win on any given night, in any given series. When looking for a team that has the ability to win the greatest trophy in sports, these five reasons give the Boston Bruins a better chance than just about any other team.”

2018 Bruin was so smart.
