8. Detroit Lions – Josh Allen, DE, Kentucky

The Lions made a big splash in free agency with the signing of Trey Flowers, the top pass rusher on the market. But the Lions should double-dip at defensive end and add the nation’s top sack artist opposite him to fortify the most important position on defense.

Josh Allen had 17 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss last year at Kentucky, en route to an All-American season and winning the SEC Defensive Player of the Year.

The 6-5, 260-pound Allen could take advantage of man blocking while Flowers receives the extra attention with a tight end or back chipping him on his path to the quarterback. In a division with Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins and Mitchell Trubisky, those teams like to chuck the ball around, so having a rusher who can make their life miserable is essential.

After the signing of Flowers and this draft pick, the Lions would have two of those such players.
