College football recruiting predictions for every 2020 5-star recruit
- High School: Calabasas
- Composite Ranking: No. 25, No. 4 WR
- Interested Programs: USC, Oregon, Texas, UCLA, Washington
One of the fun things to watch in terms of recruiting looking ahead is the war for southern California recruits. While the Trojans have long dominated their home territory and have picked up the best local products, the UCLA Bruins are going to be strongly in the mix as well.
Chip Kelly’s arrival at UCLA meant that the fight for the best talent in the Los Angeles region was only going to heat up. If the Bruins begin to show improvement on the field and it’s going to take some time, Kelly’s going to have an in with these recruits.
USC on the other hand, while the lead dog in Los Angeles, is in a state of flux and its hard to say for certain just how long Clay Helton is going to be at the helm of the program. So that’ brings everything to Johnny Wilson.
The wide receiver out of Calabasas is one of the top receivers in the country. At 6’6″ and 220 pounds, Wilson has the ability to go up and get any football that is going to be thrown his way by the quarterback.
No defensive back of any kind is going to be able to match him in those situations. So that’s where the real battle comes for the Los Angeles schools in this next recruiting class. Who is going to snag this top receiver?
Of course, Wilson could always opt for somewhere else like Washington. However, if it’s one of the Los Angeles schools, it could give a big insight into the future of recruiting in the region.
