4. Clelin Ferrell
Ferrell is a player whose draft stock seems to be going in the wrong direction. When his college season ended, it looked a lot like the former Clemson star might go in the Top 10. Now he seems to be struggling to hang on to his spot in Round 1.
It’s still more likely than not that Ferrell will be gone by the time the Eagles go on the clock. It’s far from a certainty though. If he’s still on the board he will leave Philadelphia’s front office with a really interesting choice to make.
Trading Michael Bennett to the Patriots leaves Philadelphia in need of another guy to add to their rotation of defensive linemen. Ferrell doesn’t have the quick twitch athleticism to become a dominant pass rusher, but he has a really high floor as a defensive end who can do a lot of things pretty well.
Ferrell’s lack of dynamic skills make him a poor value early in Round 1, but his steady play at defensive end makes him a potentially good value at the end of the round. Don’t be surprised if the Eagles end his slide if he makes it to No. 25.
