3. New England Patriots at Philadelphia Eagles

This game has so many different angles to explore that we could write a dissertation on how intriguing it is. Since we know not everyone has that kind of time on their hands, let’s take a quick peek at the basics.

The obvious angle is that this is the first regular season rematch between the Patriots and Eagles since their incredible showdown in Super Bowl LII, when Tom Brady passed for over 500 yards and the Patriots never punted but still managed to lose the game. Nick Foles has since moved on, but Carson Wentz is still extremely capable of dissecting a Bill Belichick defense for the Eagles.

This matchup also features the last two Super Bowl champions after New England bounced back from their loss to the Eagles by topping the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII. This is the first time that has happened since 2017, when the Patriots and Broncos squared off in Denver, with New England walking away victorious in a 41-16 rout.

This rematch figures to be far closer than that one, especially since Wentz is a far superior quarterback than Brock Osweiler, who was nearing the end of his second stint as a member of the Broncos. You also have a great venue for this contest in Philadelphia, where the Eagles’ crazed fans will let Brady and the Patriots hear it all game long.
