2. New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Rams

It’s time for yet another playoff rematch as we hit the next meeting between the Saints and Rams, who squared off in New Orleans for a trip to Super Bowl LIII a year ago. That game ended in controversy when the officials clearly blew a pass interference call against the Rams, essentially sending the wrong team to the Super Bowl.

That mistake stung Saints’ coach Sean Payton, who made it his offseason goal to change the league’s replay rules to allow coaches to challenge blatant mistakes like the one that cost his team a conference title. Replay was expanded in March, but that does little to take away the pain of having the NFC Championship game taken away from them.

As far as the Rams are concerned, this matchup is also important for them too. After getting embarrassed by the Patriots in the big game, many people have questioned how much of an offensive wizard Sean McVay is after Bill Belichick coached circles around him in Atlanta.

Rams’ quarterback Jared Goff also had one of the worst games of his life in that one, leading plenty of people to forget how brilliantly he played in the NFC title game at the Superdome. The venue for this matchup has shifted to Los Angeles this time, and both sides should be highly motivated to prove they are truly the NFC’s best team this time around.

Grab your popcorn for this game since there should be plenty of fireworks.
