Denver Broncos: vs. Oakland Raiders
Ever since they won Super Bowl 50, the Denver Broncos have had a rough go of it at the quarterback position. Paxton Lynch never developed into a franchise quarterback and Trevor Siemian displayed clear limitations, forcing John Elway to dip into the free agent market to grab Case Keenum.
Keenum wasn’t able to build on his career year in Minnesota, so Elway decided to reboot again at quarterback, trading for former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco. Elway also fired Vance Joseph, bringing in respected defensive mind Vic Fangio for his first head coaching job.
Despite the new duo at the front of the organization, Denver remains light years behind the Chiefs and Chargers in the AFC West. There is still a chance Denver can make a playoff push, but in order to do that they will need to take care of business against their bitter rivals, the Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders gave the Broncos fits in 2018, losing by one at Denver in Week 2 before beating them in Week 16, a defeat that likely cost Joseph his job. A repeat of that performance wouldn’t be acceptable for Fangio, so topping Oakland is a priority for the Broncos.
