3. Will Grier

Quarterbacks always find a way to rise as we get closer to the draft. Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins and Drew Lock are certainly going to be first rounders. Most mocks have Daniel Jones in the middle of Round 1 too. Don’t be surprised if Grier sneaks into position to be the fifth quarterback taken on Day One.

Scouts who don’t like Grier frequently point to his lack of size for the position. That’s ironic since many of those same scouts are perfectly comfortable with the idea of Murray going No. 1 overall.

The more reasonable criticisms of Grier are about his interest in making easy plays from the pocket. That’s something he didn’t do a ton of at West Virginia. Good NFL coaching should be able to teach him how important that is as the professional level.

What makes Grier an interesting prospect is that he’s a quarterback who just finds ways to make plays. There’s a certain Mahomes quality to his ability to make throws on the run and from different arm angles. He isn’t going to take the NFL by storm like Mahomes did, but it’s easy to envision a team seeing enough commonalities between the two to draft him at the end of Day One.
