Coming in at No. 23 is someone most would call one of the most criminally underused WWE Superstars of the last five years, “The King of Strong Style” Shinsuke Nakamura. The man oozes charisma and his entrances could be an event unto themselves, works of pure art and entertainment. There are few in this business that can capture the crowd’s attention during an entrance like Nakamura.
Nakamura took inspiration from several pop culture icons to develop his own unique personal style. Some of those names include Michael Jackson, Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. Mixing those styles along with his wrestling idol Jushin “Thunder” Liger and we have the King of Strong Style we all know and love today.
The former two-time NXT Champion had many epic entrances in the black and gold brand throughout the course of his run there, including one with violinist Lee England Jr. playing him out at TakeOver: Brooklyn II. During his face run his entrance theme, “The Rising Sun,” was so catchy that not only would the fans hum along with it during his entrance, they would continue to do so after the match was officially underway. It was truly a special theme for a very special entrance.
Nowadays, WWE has turned Nakamura heel and have altered his music to “Shadows of a Setting Sun,” performed by Shadows of the Sun. This entrance theme has words and while it is similar to his original theme it makes it a lot harder for the fans to get into it. It’s a real shame as Nakamura deserves a lot more than what WWE is giving him right now. Hopefully, in time the world can find out once again what an “All Elite” talent this man is.
