2019 NFL Draft: 5 players Rams could take in Round 1

3. L.J. Collier

Collier is universally listed as a defensive end by every draft site out there, but the Rams could easily view him as a potential starter at defensive tackle. He’s already carrying 282 pounds on his 6-foot-2 frame and he looks like a guy who could easily get up north of 300 lbs.

If he can put on that sort of weight and maintain his athleticism, he’s going to be a real problem for NFL interior offensive linemen. He’s not the most explosive defender in his class, but his combination of size and speed is well above average. He’s just the sort of player that can make a lot of plays lining up to Donald and company on a regular basis.

Collier is also a player who can kick outside and give Dante Fowler some much-needed rest on non-obvious passing situations. His versatility is something that should really appeal to the Rams front office.

This might be a little high to take Collier for some scouts, but the Rams aren’t a franchise who concern themselves with what other teams think. If they think Collier is the best guy on the board they won’t hesitate to take him.
