2. Jeffery Simmons

Simmons might be the most unlucky prospect in this year’s draft. He tore his ACL after the season which means he won’t be ready to go when the 2019 season begins. That’s caused his draft stock to tumble from the Top 10 to somewhere near the end of Day One.

The Rams are the perfect team to take advantage of a player dropping due to injury. They’d love to draft a tackle capable of filling in for Suh immediately, but they can afford to gamble on another potential star on the defensive line. When he was healthy, Simmons flashed Pro Bowl potential during his college career.

When you watch his tape from Mississippi State you see a guy who just wrecks what the offense is trying to do on a regular basis. He plays the game exactly how it should be played. You never see Simmons take a play off no matter the status of the game or the quality of his opponent.

The only argument against the Rams taking Simmons here is that they have to find a guy who can play right away since they lack picks in the next two rounds. McVay shouldn’t let that stop him from drafting Simmons though. He could turn into another star on his defensive front.
