2019 NFL mock draft: Kyler Murray finally goes to Cardinals
By Brad Weiss
The Green Bay Packers are one of three teams in this year‘s draft that hold multiple first-round picks, with the first one coming at number 12 overall. The packers earned this pick by finishing towards the bottom of the NFC North this season, which was quite surprising when you consider the amount of talent they have on both sides of the ball.
When you look at this roster, there is one thing that stands out, and that is quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game, and it is pretty surprising that he has won only one Super Bowl ring during his career.
During the 2018 NFL season, the Packers fired head coach Mike McCarthy, who had his issues with Rodgers along the way. With a first year head coach in Matt LaFleur, the Packers may want to utilize their first round pick on the offensive line, bringing in Jawaan Taylor from Florida. Taylor is a punishing run blocker, and would serve this roster well moving forward, as protecting Rodgers has got to be the priority.
The bottom line is, the Packers are only going to go as far as Rodgers right arm will lead them, so it would make sense to utilize their first of two first round picks on an offensive tackle. This is a team that has the talent on both sides of the ball to be a contender in the NFC North in 2019, and it will be interesting to see the dynamic between Rodgers and a first year head coach this upcoming season.
