20. player. 55. . Cornerback. Washington. Byron Murphy

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been all over the news this offseason, as they were fleeced by the Oakland Raiders in a trade for Antonio Brown, parting ways with their best offensive weapon. The best wide receiver in football, Brown was traded to the Raiders for a third and fifth round pick in 2019, well below the original asking price of two first rounders.

When it comes to the 2019 NFL draft, the Steelers will pick at No. 20 overall, after failing to make the playoffs last season. During the beginning of the year, they looked to be in line for another AFC North title, but the Baltimore Ravens snuck up and surpassed them later in the 2018 NFL season.

Looking ahead, the Steelers need to do something to improve their defense, especially in the secondary, where they need more bodies at the cornerback position. When it comes to the cornerbacks in this draft class, Byron Murphy from Washington is the best of the bunch, and should be the first name off the board on Thursday night.

Murphy would be a solid addition to a secondary that already added Steven Nelson this off-season, and still have Joe Haden at cornerback from last year’s team. If they can add him to that group, they should be much better against the pass in 2019, and should go right back to being one of the more dominant forces in the AFC.
