D.K. Metcalf. 22. player. 26. . Wide Receiver. Ole Miss

The Baltimore Ravens came out of nowhere to win the AFC North last season, over taking the Pittsburgh Steelers late in the season. Their rise to the top of the division was aided by the play of rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson, who took over for the injured Joe Flacco in the second half of the year.

Jackson is the kind of player who can make plays with his arm and his legs, though the Ravens would like him to do a little bit more with his arm next season. One way they can help him do that is by bringing in a talented wide receiver with the No. 22 overall pick on Thursday night, and D.K. Metcalf may be the best available at the position group in this draft class.

When it comes to Metcalf, he has all the physical attributes that you look for in an elite wide receiver, but he wasn’t as productive as you would’ve liked him to be at Ole Miss. Still, this is the kind of player who could be a perennial 1,000-yard receiver at the next level, and Jackson will be without two of his main weapons in the passing game next season.

It will be interesting to see how Jackson does entering the season as the presumed starter, as the expectation was he would sit behind Flacco last season as a rookie. He showed that he has all the talent to make this Ravens team a perennial playoff contender, but year two at that position is always the most important.
