Heading into the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the New York Giants in terms of who they will pick early in Round 1. The Giants are one of three teams are currently hold multiple first round picks on Thursday night, and the thought all along has been that they will add a quarterback.

While the smart move would be to bring in a guy like Dwayne Haskins with the sixth overall pick, we like the giants to move in a different direction on Thursday. With the No. 6 overall pick in the first round, the Giants should look to select star defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who is a rare blend of size and athleticism.

Being better upfront on both sides of the ball will be paramount for the Giants this upcoming season, as their offense will be based around running back Saquon Barkley. During the 2018 NFL Draft, the Giants bypassed on a quarterback to select Barkley, who would go on to win Rookie of the Year honors for the G-Men.

The talk around the organization all offseason has been that they don’t see Eli Manning as a quarterback that needs to be replaced in the immediate future. Holding two first round picks on Thursday, the Giants have a real opportunity to upgrade the line on both sides of the ball, and Oliver is a player who could end up being the best overall player in this draft class when it’s all said and done.
