Iowa. T.J. Hockenson. 8. player. 50. . Tight End

The Detroit Lions finished in the bottom of the NFC North this past season, only a year removed from making it to the playoffs as a Wild Card team. When it comes to this Lions team, there is a lot to like on both sides of the ball, specifically quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has been excellent at filling up the stat sheet.

The issue with Stanford, however, is that he has yet to show that he can win big games at the NFL level. While he has had some nice weapons on the offensive side of the ball since becoming the team starting quarterback, it would be wise for the Lions to utilize their early first round pick on giving him a solid weapon over the middle.

When it comes to the tight ends in this 2019 NFL Draft class, TJ Hockenson is the best of the bunch. While some may feel that Iowa teammate Noah Fant is the better of the two, do not be surprised if you hear Hockenson’s name called in the first 10 picks.

During his time as the starter in Detroit, Stafford has put up some nice numbers, and it would be wise for the team to continue to add weapons around him. In Hockenson, he would have that dangerous over the middle weapon that he has been lacking, making this Lions offense that much more dangerous in 2019.
