High Value Forwards/Centers

Players costing over $8,333

Rudy Gay (vs DEN – $6,600): Needs 30.1 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 18.25 fantasy points against Denver. I will continue to trust the Spurs at home until I go to my grave but man has Gay been disappointing in this series. The opportunities are still there but not always the minutes. And we know he can get hot but the Spurs just have a tough time generating offense. Even with the single game, this price just feels too high for him. Diagnosis: Fairly reliable with a decent ceiling.

Jakob Poeltl (vs DEN – $5,600): Needs 27.3 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 26.25 fantasy points against Denver. Poeltl has proven to be a much more reliable option for the Spurs and he comes at a cheaper price. He’s going to get the minutes and opportunities and he’s proven that he can step up and at least get you value in this series. Diagnosis: Reliable with a decent ceiling.

Mason Plumlee (at SA – $3,600): Needs 17.6 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 6.75 fantasy points against San Antonio. Your options just aren’t great under Poeltl and Gay but Plumlee gets some minutes and opportunities, which is more than you can say about the other guys in this spot. Maybe the Spurs go to Davis Bertans a bit more in this game? Probably not. But Pop might get desperate in his final game of the season. Plumlee is an option but not exactly the best option. Diagnosis: Inconsistent with a decent ceiling.
