6. Delaware S Nasir Adderley

Another defensive back from a smaller school, Nasir Adderley is arguably the best safety in this draft class, even if Alabama’s Deionte Thompson gets more attention after having played at college football’s premier program.

Adderley turned heads during the pre-draft process, and he certainly qualifies as an impact player in the second round of the draft. With his shutdown coverage at the safety position, Adderley can shore up any team’s deep passing defense, and he is one of the better athletes at the position in this year’s class.

Safeties are still held in high value in this passing-focused league, and even the high volume of free agents at the position this offseason didn’t hold the likes of Tyrann Mathieu and Adrian Amos back from getting paid by the defensive back-needy Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers, respectively.

As far as NFL comparisons go, Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller likened Adderley to Cleveland Browns starting free safety Damarious Randall, and if Adderley can have that kind of impact in the NFL, he’ll be well-worth that second-round flier.
