41. Denver Broncos—Mack Wilson LB Alabama

The Broncos traded out of the tenth pick to allow the Steelers to jump up and grab the draft’s second linebacker in Michigan’s Devin Bush. They were able to sit at 20 and watch tight end Noah Fant fall to them. Elway made the right move giving Joe Flacco a talented pass catching tight end, a position Flacco really loves. Now in the second round they get their linebacker in Alabama’s Mack Wilson. He may not be at the level of White/Bush but he is a solid linebacker coming from a pro ready system. Wilson gives Denver an athletic piece in the middle that can play sideline to sideline and disrupt opposing passing games with excellent zone ability.

42. Cincinnati Bengals—Drew Lock QB Missouri

If you thought that Drew Lock was making it to the 42nd pick you are either a liar or really good guesser. Lock seemed like, well, a lock for the first round with his big arm and SEC experience. Instead he is still sitting there in day two and would be a great grab for Cincinnati. New head coach Zach Taylor is going to want to grab his guy and Lock has the tools to build on. Jonah Williams in round one will protect whoever is behind him. Lock can sit for a year, learn and take over in 2020 when the Bengals can get rid of Andy Dalton for little dead money.

43. Detroit Lions—Justin Layne CB Michigan State

Detroit made moves in free agency that allowed it to go best player available in the first round. That player turned out to be Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson who may be the safest pick in the entire draft. Now in day two, they can take a bigger risk with Michigan State corner Justin Layne. A converted wide receiver, Layne improved every game for the Spartans. He’s a long, athletic corner with excellent ball skills. This would be the perfect partner for Darius Slay, especially in a division with Aaron Rodgers and the Vikings receiver duo.

44. Green Bay Packers—Dalton Risner OL Kansas State

Green Bay had two first-round picks to work with after trading its 2018 first to the Saints. The Packers jumped up with their second pick to grab the heat seeking missile at safety Darnell Savage after drafting the uber-athletic edge rusher Rashan Gary at 12. They were tied to plenty of offensive tackles in the first round. They can still grab one in Kansas State’s Dalton Risner with their second-round pick. This could be a weapon like Irv Smith or one of the talented receivers but Green Bay is preparing for its aging tackles to leave and Risner can start inside before taking over at tackle.
