53. Philadelphia Eagles—David Montgomery, RB, Iowa State

The Eagles were considered a landing spot for all the draft’s top running backs. They missed out on Alabama’s Josh Jacobs in the first round, instead trading up for their tackle of the future in Andre Dillard. With the first of their two second-round picks, they get what some considered the best running back in Iowa State’s David Montgomery. He’s not the elite athlete many crave at the position, but he’s an excellent runner with great vision and burst. Montgomery has got wiggle to make you miss and should thrive behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

54. Houston Texans—Jaylon Ferguson EDGE Louisiana Tech

Houston has back-to-back picks in the second round at 54 and 55. The Texans picked what many think was a reach in Titus Howard in the first round to be their starting tackle. They can now look at the defensive side of the ball and grab an heir to Jadaveon Clowney. Clowney looks to be on the way out of Houston, possibly tonight. Jaylon Ferguson is the career sack leader in college football but tested poorly and fell a bit to the back end of the second round.  A powerful edge rusher with strong hand play, Ferguson can find a role as a sub-package pass rusher as he rounds out the rest of his game.

55. Houston Texans—Miles Sanders, RB, Penn State

Back to offense for Houston with its second of back-to-back picks. There is no shortage of passing weapons on the outside for Deshaun Watson. What this offense is missing is a running back that can put some fear in defenses with the aging Lamar Miller losing a step. Miles Sanders of Penn State is my top ranked running back and only got knocked because he played two seasons behind a generational talent in Saquon Barkley. Sanders needs to work on fumbling issues but the rest of his game is rock solid. Watson would have a weapon out of the backfield and someone that is explosive enough to take any play the distance.

56. New England Patriots—Nasir Adderley S Delaware

One thing that is sure about the New England Patriots is they value versatility, especially in their defensive backs. That is why the pairing with them and Delaware safety Nasir Adderley is intriguing. Adderley is a do-it-all safety who showcased well during his time at the Senior Bowl. There are knocks on his competition coming from a small school but the guy can play. Adderley would give Bill Belichick a chess piece on the back end who can play single high, in the box or even nickle corner. This is a match made in heaven.
