Houston Texans: D-

The Texans entered the draft in need of offensive line help and they spent their first rounder on a tackle. Unfortunately, taking Tytus Howard in Round 1 was a real mistake. Houston’s front office should have played it much safer and simpler.

Lonnie Johnson is probably the best pick of the class in Round 2. Max Harping, the third round tackle the team selected, was rated higher than Howard by a lot of teams. Neither looks like great value for Bill O’Brien and company.

Indianapolis Colts: A-

The Colts stayed very patient and played the draft as well as any team in the league. They moved out of Round 1 to add volume but still got a nice prospect in Rock-Ya Sin at the top of Round 2. He’ll compete for immediate playing time.

Ben Banogu and Bobby Okereke will help this defense get a lot more athletic. Grabbing Parris Campbell also gives Andrew Luck a new offensive weapon. There may not be a potential superstar in this group, but there look to be a lot of contributors.

Jacksonville Jaguars: A-

Jacksonville gets a good grade for taking advantage of unexpected drops in this year’s draft. No one thought Josh Allen would make it to No. 7, but the Jaguars snapped him up when he did. They did the same when moving up to snag Jawaan Taylor on Day Two.

The work for the ‘Jags on Day Three wasn’t quite as a strong, but Gardner Minshew could turn into a nice backup. There definitely could have been more depth to this class, but coming away with two potential stars powers the team to an A-.

Tennessee Titans: C

The Titans made some really good picks and some really questionable ones. Taking Jeffery Simmons in Round 1 was a luxury a team like this really can’t afford. In contrast, taking A.J. Brown in Round 2 could look like a stroke of genius midway through the season.

Keep a close eye on fourth rounder Amani Hooker too. He could turn into an early contributor. Unfortunately for the Titans, the chances of third round pick Nate Davis doing the same seem pretty remote.
