NFL Draft grades for all 32 teams: Redskins, Panthers get high marks
Arizona Cardinals: A-
Kyler Murray at No. 1 overall didn’t surprise anyone, but it was still a good pick for Arizona. He’ll give them a potential star to build around on offense for years to come.
Byron Murphy at the top of Round 2 was also a great value move for the Cardinals. Those two picks got the class off to a really good start. Zach Allen and Hakeem Butler also give them a pair of intriguing guys to build around later in the draft. The quality of the class dropped off on Day Three, but it’s hard to argue with the top of the group.
Los Angeles Rams: C
The Rams waited a while to make a selection, but they finally got off the sidelines by taking Taylor Rapp in Round 2. He should help Sean Payton’s team right away, even if it’s mostly on special teams.
Keep a close eye on Darrell Henderson as a guy who can take meaningful snaps away from Todd Gurley as a rookie. There’s not a ton of depth here, but there are some intriguing guys to look at for Los Angeles.
San Francisco 49ers: B
Murray went No. 1, but a lot of scouts had Nick Bosa at the top player on their board. Getting him with the second pick was excellent value for the 49ers.
Second round pick Deebo Samuel could also blossom into an important playmaker for Jimmy Garoppolo. He should play right away in the slot. This isn’t a deep class, but the star power gets San Francisco a comfortable B.
Seattle Seahawks: B-
Pete Carroll and company came away with a really intriguing group of players. L.J. Collier doesn’t project as a star, but he’ll give them an adequate player to take Frank Clark’s position next season.
D.K. Metcalf will get a lot of headlines, but he’ll need a lot of work before he’s ready to handle an NFL route tree. Gary Jennings could have a better rookie season. Seattle’s grade goes down with the questionable choices of Marquise Blair and Cody Barton. There are a lot of fun players here, but it could turn into a feast or famine class.
