High Salary C

Players costing over $6,250

Nikola Jokic (vs POR – $10,000): Needs 48.2 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 67.25 fantasy points against San Antonio. Jokic was a beast in the first round and I’m not going to doubt him until he gives me a reason to be doubted. If Kanter doesn’t play I don’t know if that’s better or worse for Jokic. Probably better because Kanter can be strong in the post on defense. Either way, Jokic should deliver. Diagnosis: Very reliable with a high ceiling.

Joel Embiid (at TOR – $9,400): Needs 45.3 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 29.5 fantasy points against Toronto. Embiid wasn’t good in Game 1 and he’s going to have his hands full with Gasol and the Raptors defense all season. The knee injury certainly doesn’t help either. He’s Joel Embiid and we know what he’s capable of. The slightly lower salary does help. Diagnosis: Reliable with a high ceiling.

High Value C

Players costing $6,250 or under

Enes Kanter (at DEN – $6,100): Needs 29.4 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 38.75 fantasy points against Oklahoma City. Kanter is listed as questionable so check his status before making any decisions. If he doesn’t play, there will be some value among those in the Blazers frontcourt. If Kanter does play, I don’t like this matchup quite as much for him because the Nuggets will take advantage of his defensive shortcomings more than the Thunder did. Diagnosis: Fairly reliable with a good ceiling.

Marc Gasol (vs PHI – $5,000): Needs 24.1 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 19.5 fantasy points against Philadelphia. Gasol will continue to get the minutes but he’s doing his work on the defensive end. He can still grab rebounds and chip in with other areas. But I wouldn’t expect a big outing from him at this point. Diagnosis: Fairly reliable with a decent ceiling.
