15 most likable TV leads

10. Amy Sosa on Superstore
It’s unimaginable that America Ferrera could ever play a character that wasn’t innately likable, because the Emmy winner herself is innately likable. Even if she were to play an all-out rude and unkind character, there would still be something redeeming about her. But that hasn’t been an issue with Ferrera’s characters in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Ugly Betty, and her current role as Amy Sosa on NBC’s hit comedy series Superstore.
First things first, if you’re not already obsessed with Superstore, remedy that immediately by streaming the entire series on Hulu. The comedy, going into its fifth season this fall, is the perfect amalgamation of The Office and Parks and Reaction, and that’s not the least bit of an oversell. Ferrera plays tenured floor supervisor Amy, who wears a different name tag every day to maintain her identity amid customers’ constant nagging. Naturally, she’s run the gamut as a character through divorce, single-motherhood, unexpected pregnancy, new relationship, and career promotion.
Even though Amy could be described as having a short fuse, let’s cut her a break for dealing with the quirky staff she deals with on a daily basis. She’s the true definition of “I’m surrounded by idiots,” but she handles it with a cool head and a loyalty to the rules. Yet she also has a desire to shake the corporate system and its constraints. Amy has fought for paid maternity leave, battled racism and sexism, and rallied against healthcare. She keeps the Cloud 9 crew in check as their fearless leader and is just one of Superstore’s embarrassment of likable characters.
