2020 NFL mock draft: Tua Tagovailoa goes to Dolphins
By Brad Weiss
The Baltimore Ravens made the move to trade back up into the first round in the 2018 NFL Draft, selecting quarterback Lamar Jackson, a Heisman Trophy winner from Louisville. During the 2018 season, Jackson ended up coming in for the injured Joe Flacco, leading the Ravens to an AFC North title, and basically kicking Flacco out the door.
With Flacco now in Denver, the Ravens felt it was time to add some quality talent to the wide receiver group in the first round, getting Marquise “Hollywood” Brown with the No. 25 overall pick. There are plenty of people who feel he is the best overall wideout in this draft class, and he will now have a Heisman Trophy winner throwing him the ball for a third straight season.
Looking at this Ravens roster, there is a lot to like about it on both sides of the ball, though they lost some leadership on defense this offseason. With their first round pick in 2020, they may want to target that side of the ball, and Isaiah Simmons from Clemson is one of the more versatile defensive players in this draft class.
Simmons is a guy who could play safety, or outside linebacker at the next level, and the Ravens will need help in both areas next season. This is a team that is going to be in the fight for an AFC North crown once again in 2019, but Jackson is entering year two as the starter, and that is always one of the bigger years in a young quarterback’s career.
