2020 NFL mock draft: Tua Tagovailoa goes to Dolphins
By Brad Weiss
The Green Bay Packers were expected to challenge for a playoff spot last season, especially with a healthy Aaron Rodgers under center. Unfortunately for Packers fans, the relationship between Rodgers and head coach Mike McCarthy was not as healthy, and the Packers ended up on the outside looking in at the playoffs.
As we turn our focus to the 2019 season, there is a lot to be excited about when it comes to this franchise. There is a new head coach in town, as Matt LaFleur takes over, and Rodgers is still one of the more talent quarterbacks in all of football.
During the 2019 NFL Draft, the Packers were one of a handful of teams with multiple first round picks, and they made the most of them on Thursday night. Green Bay selected Michigan defensive end Rashan Gary at No. 12 overall, before adding safety Darnell Savage Jr. with the No. 21 overall pick in round one.
That is a a nice haul for the defense, and in 2020, they should switch their focus to the offense, adding Tee Higgins, a stellar wideout from Clemson. The relationship between Rodgers and his new head coach is key for this thing to work in Green Bay, and next April, they may just give him an elite playmaker in the first round.
