The New York Giants went into the 2019 NFL Draft holding two first round picks, including the No. 6 overall selection. Heading into the draft, general manager Dave Gettleman had spoke at length about the team not drafting for need, and not reaching in the first round, as that is where you can get hurt.

Well, not only did he do both, but he picked a quarterback who some had a second round grade on, and was rated as not even the second-best in the draft class. While Daniel Jones certainly looks the part of franchise quarterback, and has trained with the same guy as Eli Manning, most feel this was a terrible pick for the franchise.

Only time will tell if Jones is the real deal, but anytime you draft a quarterback that high, the expectation has to be that he will become a Pro Bowl player. However, looking at their defense, and their schedule, the Giants are likely not headed to the playoffs this season, and could once again be holding an early first round pick in 2020.

With that pick, the Giants should look to add the best wide receiver in the draft class, and Jerry Jeudy from Alabama is the kind of playmaker that can fill the shoes left vacant with the Odell Beckham Jr. trade. Jeudy is a winner, can make big plays down the field, and if the Giants want to really develop Jones, giving him an elite weapon is the way to go.
