The Arizona Cardinals were the story of the 2019 NFL Draft, as they held the first overall pick after winning only three games in 2018. While rumors swirled all offseason about where the Cardinals would go with the pick, they ended up getting Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Kyler Murray, who is perfect for Kliff Kingsbury’s offense.

The only problem with that was the fact they drafted a quarterback in the first round last year, selecting UCLA’s Josh Rosen at No. 10 overall. Rosen did not play well as a rookie, and for good reason, as the Cardinals were absolutely horrible, and he was running for his life on every play.

Now that Kingsbury has his guy, there should be no excuses for him in his first season as an NFL head coach, and Murray has the talent to be special. Still, this is a team that is going to lose a lot more than they win next season, and they should once again be picking in the top-5 of the draft.

With this pick, the Cardinals should focus their attention to the defensive side of the ball, picking up the best defensive back this draft class has to offer. C.J. Henderson could be the team’s elite corner if they decide to move on from Patrick Peterson, and there has already been rumors that they want to trade him in recent weeks.
