2020 NFL mock draft: Tua Tagovailoa goes to Dolphins
By Brad Weiss
The Tennessee Titans held the 19th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and decided to bring in a player who likely will not help them this upcoming season. Mississippi State star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons is coming off a knee injury, and the expectation is that he will miss his rookie campaign, but that did not stop the Titans from selecting him.
That move could turn out to be a great one, as many believe Simmons was the No. 1 talent at his position group in this draft class. Tennessee came very close to making it to the playoffs last season, losing in Week 17 to the Indianapolis Colts with a Wild Card spot on the line, and the oddsmakers do not have them making it to the postseason next year either.
If the Titans are staring down a top-10 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, they should look to add more talent to the offensive line. Marcus Mariota is heading into a big season for him professionally, as the Titans brought in Ryan Tannehill to push him for the job last season, and he will have to respond in a positive way to the competition.
Moving forward, the Titans would be wise to add a player like Andrew Thomas from Georgia to the fold in the 2020 NFL Draft, because he has the talent to be the best offensive tackle in this draft class. Tennessee will be a team to keep an eye on next season, as they will either be a playoff team, or really take a step backwards.
