6. Philadelphia Phillies, 16-13, 1st in the NL East (ranked 8th last week)

The Phillies offense seems to either be on or off recently, as the Phillies will score in bunches one game but then only muster one or two runs over their next three games. The pitching has improved, especially with Nick Pivetta being sent back down to the minors after posting an 8.35 ERA in five starts. The 5.18 runs per games do look nice on paper for Philadelphia, but unless the Phillies can start producing runs on a more consistent level, it’s not really indicative to how this group has done offensively.

5. New York Yankees, 17-12, 2nd in the AL East (ranked 9th last week)

The Yankees currently have 14 players on the IL, including their two best hitters Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge. However, the Bronx Bombers are 8-2 and are playing like the best team in baseball at the moment. With Luke Voit and Gary Sanchez combining for 18 home runs and 45 RBI, the Yankees offense has been rolling. The starting rotation has been strong during this run and the bullpen has been one of the best groups in baseball, boasting a team 3.90 ERA. With the Yankees playing this good without so many key players, the league should be worried about this team getting 100%.
